What is SME Digitalisation Grant?

SME Digitalisation Grant is a Budget 2020 initiative to encourage SMEs to adopt digitalisation in their business operations. Through this initiative, the government will provide each company with a 50% matching grant, up to RM5,000 for the subscription of approved digital services.

Available to SME and Cooperative (“Koperasi”) registered under the relevant laws of Malaysia
The SME is at least 60% owned by Malaysian
The SME/Coop has a minimum average annual sales turnover of RM50,000.
The SME/Coop has been in operation for at least (6) months
Registered under the relevant laws of Malaysia
Must be at least 51% owned by Malaysians
Business address or operation address registered in Selangor only
In operation for at least 1 year

Each SME may subscribe up to 3 digital services



Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)/Accounting & Taxation
Electronic Point of Sale System (e-POS)
Human Resource Payroll System (HR)/Customer Relationship Management (CRM)
Digital Marketing/Sales
Remote Working
HR and Payroll System
Cloud Accounting
Digital Marketing

Required Document



Copy of Identity Card or Passport of Director(s)/Partner(s)/Proprietor(s), whichever is applicable
A copy of the SME’s business registration licenses (CCM or any similar forms under the Companies Act 2016). For Coop, a copy of SKM registration certificate.
Latest audited financial statements or latest financial management account statement or the bank statement for the latest two (2) months;
Quotation/invoice for the selected digitalisation services from the Service Provider listed by MDEC
Any other information and documents as and when required by the bank.
Company profile from SSM
Audited financial statement (2020) OR Latest 12 months management account OR Latest 12 months Profit & Loss statement
Company’s bank statement for the last two (2) months
Business description
Proforma invoice/Invoice from authorised vendor listed by SIDEC

Application Workflow



The Applicant must contact and appoint one or more services of Service Providers listed by MDEC to perform any of the digitalisation services available (maximum of 3 digital services).
The Applicant must complete and submit the application form together with the required supporting documents to the BSN bank
Once the application is approved, the applicant is responsible to pay the 50% from the total invoice or more, and the Bank will only make payment of 50% or up to RM5,000.00 to the Service Provider.
Look for DSP who is endorsed by SIDEC under the respective digitalisation area
Ask for a proforma invoice from DSP
Submit your application through SIDEC website
You will receive notification via email within 21 working days

If I am an existing Aoikumo customer, may I still apply for the grant?

Please reach out to our sales team to discuss further as we will have to verify your subscription period and the plan that you are on.

Does this apply to Monthly Subscription or only for Annual Subscription plan?

This grant only applies to annual subscription plans.

If I have already applied for this grant for another service, can I apply again to subscribe for Aoikumo?

Unfortunately no, the grant can only be applied once for each company.

Any platform that stated all the application criteria, workflow and also all the approved TSP?

MDEC and BSN website will announce all the Approved TSP, TSP’s roles and responsibilities, SME eligible criteria, document required and Application workflow.

Can I apply for the grant if my company has only been in operation for less than 1 year?


Can I apply for the grant if I have applied for the SME Business Digitalisation Grant (Penjana Initiative/MDEC)?

Yes. However, SIDEC will prioritise SMEs that have never received any grants and have not subscribed to any digital system, while SMEs that already received grants will be given a lower priority.

If my company received a different grant from SMEBANK, SMECORP, MATRADE or others, am I eligible to apply?

Yes. However, SIDEC will prioritise SMEs that have never received any grants.

Can I submit the application and supporting documents through email?

No. SIDEC will only receive applications which are submitted via the website.

Can I apply for the grant if I am applying for the SBDG Grant or if my current project has been approved for the SBDG Grant (Penjana/MDEC)?

No. SIDEC does not allow applicants to apply for the grant under the same project which has been approved for the SBDG Grant.
